Scholarship Technical Information

The Falcon Sportsmen Club Scholarship Program is designed to provide scholarships to qualified candidates pursuing a degree in an environmental course of study such as wildlife management, natural resource management, environmental law enforcement, environmental engineering, and other related fields.

 

ELIGIBILITY

 

1. Students should be graduating seniors with a 3.0 on 4.0 scale or equivalent grade point average. (If transcript indicates a scale other than 4.0, student should have a minimum of 3.75 on a 5.0 scale, 4.5/6.0 scale, 5.25/7.0 scale, 6.0/8.0 scale, 6.75/9.0 scale or a 7.5/10.0 scale.

 

2. Students must be pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education (i.e. Junior College, Community College, Technical College, College, or University).

 

3. Students must be enrolled as a full time student ( at least 12 hours per semester).

 

4. Students must support the preservation of the fishing and hunting tradition and actively participate in these activities. A copy of a current fishing/hunting license is required.

 

5. Students must be a member of the Falcon Sportsmen Club and include a copy of the membership card.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS

 

An applicant must complete the application and include with it the following:

1. Three letters of recommendation must be attached to the application (i.e. teacher, counselor, community leader). Recommendations from relatives will not be accepted.

2. A one page essay explaining why this scholarship is desired and the personal dedication to the environment/conservation.

3. A listing and summary of school and community activities.

4. Transcripts.

 

SELECTION PROCESS

 

Scholarships will be awarded subject to appropriated funds to students selected by the Falcon Sportsmen Club Scholarship Advisory Committee.

 

The money must be used for tuition, books, fees, and/or housing. The Club will work with the student and the college financial aid officer in determining the payee when the check is issued. This will ensure the greatest benefit to the recipient. This is a one time award for one year.

 

  Applications must be postmarked by June 1 of each year in order to be considered by the committee. Winners will be notified by July 1.
